Brand New Dynaco MKIII Monoblock Tube Amplifier Pair - 60 Watts Each -Matched Tubes and Amp Covers included !
So whether you're seriously shopping to buy or just looking, let's take the guesswork out of what you're looking at here.
First of all these are 100% all new, we're talking brand new, genuine Dynakit amps. Hand assembled & made in the USA.
If you buy a used amp and gamble that it will be just fine, I wish you good luck. If you're in the class that believe a vintage "original" condition amp will sound better than an all new one, good luck again on that. I've run that road and found it disappointing and more expensive in the long run, not to mention the downtime, the work and frustration involved. What about the aesthetics, the cosmetic presentation. Not important to some but it's very important to me. If appearance is important to you then you'll greatly appreciate the gleaming mirror polished stainless steel and extra sharp details of the circuit board, wiring and the beautiful clear and bright tubes. This pair of amps will knock your eyes out they're are so shiny. In fact it seems nearly impossible to get good photos due to the highly reflective properties of the chassis and glass. Take a good close look at the finish quality of these amps. Look at the quality of the soldering and component placement, the wiring. I went to great lengths to build a pair of amps you will be proud to own and can use for a lifetime, these are nice to be modest. Beyond the build quality I went further to assemble a complement of quality and highly reliable components to elevate the performance and sonic abilities of these amps. To say they sound very musical would be minimizing.
So shop around, look closely at what your options are, look at the details, think about what it will cost to get it sounding good and working right...........yep, you've just spent more on those than these, and they'll never look like these do, no matter what. This isn't an "out of the box" pair of Dynaco MKIII, these are specially built and nicely assembled amps for that someone who want's a little more than just average. I repudiate mediocrity, you'll appreciate that when you are playing these. I'll also make sure you get them safe and sound, they'll be shipped right.
Now, take a look at the details below, then click "buy it now", I'll get them packed and on the way.
Here's the details:
Each amplifier is equipped with the Dynakit "bias balance control". This allows equal biasing and then balancing of the bias between the individual output tubes for enhanced sonics, extended tube life and higher overall reliability. Bias is initially adjusted using the original 10k bias pots. Then, using the additional adjusters the balance is adjusted, this is for equalizing the current between each pair of output tubes. The secondary balance adjustments are made using the adjusters for the additional balance pots which are installed conveniently behind the front octal sockets. The adjuster is very discreet and is accessible at the center holes of the already existing front octal sockets. Full easy to follow bias setting instructions are included.
These amps feature Upgraded Premium Dynakit 80/40/30/20uF multi section capacitors which are rated for 550V (600V surge) and use four discrete (individual) caps inside the metal can style enclosure.
Each amplifier has a genuine Dynakit P-782 power transformer plus a an A-431 Output Transformer - The original (vintage) transformers are inarguably excellent, but they were designed to operate on 117 volts (think 1950's). Today's household AC current is often near and occasionally higher then 125 volts, so the use of a "step down" or "bucking" transformer is necessary to reduce the voltage down to a safe operating level for any vintage amp having its original transformers. These modern Dynakit transformers are manufactured to work from standard, modern 120-125 volt household AC current. They operate cooler, produce less distortion and outperform vintage transformers in every category. These transformers were reverse engineered from the original designs using many modern manufacturing technologies and superior insulations. These are super high quality USA made transformers that meet and exceed every aspect of the originals. There's more......if there were some sort of "magic" in cloth covered leads, Dynakit would have certainly insisted on using them. The truth is, there's simply no magic in cloth covered lead wire. There's nothing wrong with cloth leads, they were the the standard of the time, but in any comparison, these new transformers are better than those old originals. Modern advancements in materials, combined with traditional methods and better technologies used in the manufacturing has resulted in absolutely superb transformers that produce improved sonics and cleaner power. These transformers provide less distortion and increased reliability. This is not a 50 year old amp and is not pretending to be one. This is a modern amp based on a ingenious and very successful 50+ year old proven design. An inrush current limiter is incorporated into the AC mains to gently apply power during initial start up.
Each MK III circuit board is a stock Dynaco PC-1 using the original circuit and a single 6AN8A tube. These boards feature a matched pair of CDE 942C series capacitors and a single Vishay 1839HQ series capacitor for superior sonic performance and reliability. The 942 series have polypropylene film and dual metallized electrodes for both self healing properties and high peak current carrying capability. These are simply some of the best caps on the market at any price, they sound phenomenal. The smaller caps are two Kemet MLCC type with NPO C0G dielectric and one Cornell Dubilier dipped silver mica. These amps sound stunning! The resistors are a mixture of 1% screened metal films and 5% carbon films for superb accuracy while retaining the warmth so desirable in tube amplification. Brands are TE, PRP, Vishay, Yageo and Dale. The tube sockets on the PCB have gold plated contacts for corrosion resistance, they are the high quality ceramic type for optimum heat shielding for the PCB.
The bias and power supply features KEMET's PEG124 electrolytic capacitors with very long life, rated up to 27,500 hours at +105°C with outstanding electrical performance. The capacitor has a polarized all-welded design, tinned copper wire leads, a negative pole connected to the case, and a plastic insulation. The caps have been further shielded to prevent grounding between the case and the chassis or other components. The leads are also insulated for safety. The under chassis resistors are by Panasonic, Dale and TE.
All of the wiring is 20 AWG USA made wire and is carefully and tastefully routed and secured in the chassis. All soldering was done with Kester 60/40 rosin core.
Of course the amps have the Genuine Dynakit Shielded choke #C-354 for extra quiet operation.
Upgraded with Gold Plated Banana Jack binding Posts and set up for 4 and 8 ohm output. (no 16 ohm terminal)
The amps have a heavy duty C&K dust/debris proof sealed body slide type power switch with a 6 amp 10,000 cycle rating.
Identically matched JJ KT88 Tubes, tested and analyzed using the ROE computer tube matching system - one of the best rated KT88 tubes on the market. Ordered brand new as a matched quad just for these amps. The tubes are unlabeled & unmarked. These were plucked from a special case of select JJ KT88 tubes that was originally sold & shipped to a West Coast manufacturer intended for private labeling to be used as the OEM tubes in their high end production amplifiers. These are very clean and industrial looking tubes and sound incredible. These tubes were hand selected, tested and graded, these were a great find! The original MKIII amps came with KT88 tubes and then some years later in production Dynaco began using the 6550 tube. These amps will run either tube with the only requirement being to reset the bias for the different tubes.
Test matched and sweet sounding pair of true NOS vintage RCA 6AN8A tubes with original boxes.
New Tung-Sol 5AR4 / GZ34 rectifier tubes with their original boxes

These amps were designed and built to be a true identically matched set.
These are modern, brand new amps made to operate from standard (USA) 120-125 AC current.
You do not need a voltage reducer to run these amps
, just plug them in and go.
These amps sound mesmerizing, the cleanest and most articulate soundstage I've heard from the Dynaco lineup. Driving a large pair of horn loaded cabinets with 12" woofers these amps bring the room to life effortlessly. The vocals and strings are almost disturbing. I've explored every genre from jazz to classic rock and simply don't want to shut the amps off. Even after several hours of moderate level listening the transformers are simply warm to the touch. The bass response is incredible, the extra capacitance was certainly worth the investment.
The amps shown in the photos are the amps you are going to receive, nothing else in the photos is included but may be available in other listings if you're interested.
